Someone i bumped into at pelorus bridge , Matt Fenwick a flatmate from Dunedin university days .   

 The Mangatapu saddle , just a serious slog up hill on very lumpy loose ground . 

Arrived in Nelson just on dark , found the first pub with an outdoor table ( because at this point in the day you startto smell) and ordered food while i looked for somewhere to stay . 

I had only planned to go to Pelorus Bridge and do the climb tomorrow morning but the temperature was nice and my gps didn’t have the maps for Picton to Greymouth section ,  so I followed Evan up to the Mangatapu Saddle.
